It’s time again to look at some baseball betting odds and put forth our World Series pick. Fall is in the air, the leaves are crunchy underfoot, and Halloween is just around the corner. In other words, a perfect time for baseball to end its unnecessarily long season with what should be a riveting 2016 World Series of Baseball.
Baseball Betting Odds – Chicago Cubs Win World Series
The -210 Chicago Cubs are going to hoist the awkwardly named Commissioner’s Trophy ending several hundred years of hardware drought. This is a year of destiny, a year of triumph, and Cleveland just isn’t in the same league as the Cubbies. This may surprise some of my loyal readers who know that I am a son of the suburbs of Cleveland, hence my otherwise puzzling love for the Cleveland Browns. However, that did not translate into baseball.
Best World Series Picks – Pitching Critical
So why are the Chicago Cubs my World Series pick? Simply put they are a better all around team than the Indians. This is partially due to the fact that two of the Indians starting pitchers are still out injured, and as such it puts more strain on their middle relievers and their closers.
Baseball Betting – Cleveland Indians Lines
To be fair this was considered to be their weakness against the Toronto Blue Jays, but the Indians were able to get excellent pitching out of their starters, despite subbing in rookie Ryan Merritt and going on short rest with Corey Kluber and Josh Tomlin.
It could be argued that the hard hitting Blue Jays’ bats just went cold as much as Cleveland’s pitching improved, but either way you can’t argue with the results. So the Indians find themselves at a decent +165 to win the World Series– although I think its a bit short on value.
MLB World Series Lines – Chicago Cubs Preview
Chicago on the other hand has both excellent and healthy pitching in the form of Jon Lester, Jake Arrieta, and Aroldis Chapman. The rest of the bullpen is healthy and should be ready to go this week. Add to this the quality of Chicago’s bats and I think the Indians are in trouble.
Cubs’ hitters such as Kris Bryant and Willson Contreras will make sure that the Indians pitching staff is kept on notice. The North Siders had a massive MLB best +252 Run Differential compared to the Indians’ +101, which means Chicago definitely has the advantage when it comes to firepower.
Never say never of course, and the Indians looked good dispatching a talented Toronto squad so there is that to consider. However at the end of the day, I think the combination of the Chicago Cub’s hitting and pitching prowess will be too much to overcome.
