NBA Futures are Live at RealBet.euWhen it comes to NBA futures it is a bit of a gimme that we are going to most likely see two very familiar teams in the Finals. The past four years in professional basketball have been remarkably like the Jordan years, or the Laker years, in that you can pretty much bank on how it is going to turn out. I am referring of course to the Golden State Warriors as well as the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Is there then any point to bothering with NBA futures you may ask? Well it is a reasonable question given the remarkable dominance of these two teams as of late. It is tempting to write off betting on NBA futures because of the really low odds that you will get on both GSW and the Cavs. However, to do so is to miss a powerful opportunity to make some nice profits. Why? Because although we can basically forecast the two teams that will eventually be in the Finals, we also have to realize that there will be a bunch of other teams in the playoffs. And if we get those teams right in our online basketball future bets then we can hedge them come playoff time and still turn a nice profit. Let’s start by taking a look at the NBA Eastern Conference.

NBA Futures – Eastern Conference

Ok let’s address the obvious first. LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers- anything else need to be added? It is almost a certainty that the path to the 2017 NBA Finals goes through the Cleveland Cavaliers. King James shows no sign of slowing down, and with the addition of Isiah Thomas they still have a team full of talent regardless of the departure of Kyrie Irving. So it should come as no surprise that the Cavs are the favorite to win the Eastern Conference at a very lean -250, which just goes to show how much separation there is between Cleveland and everyone else.

There are of course other good and talented teams in the East when it comes to NBA futures. The standout teams are the Toronto Raptors, Milwaukee Bucks, Washington Wizards, and the Boston Celtics. The Raptors have kept stars DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry and that gives them a potent offense. The Celtics have a new team leader in the form of Kyrie Irving, but the horrific injury to Gordon Hayward will have an impact for sure. Either way, Toronto or Boston or even the Philadelphia 76ers, does it matter? I just don’t think it does. But let’s take a look at all the numbers to see if we can spot any value.

Odds to Win the Eastern Conference

  • Cleveland Cavaliers -250
  • Boston Celtics +750
  • Washington Wizards +1,200
  • Milwaukee Bucks +1,500
  • Philadelphia 76ers +1,500
  • Toronto Raptors +1,500
  • Miami Heat +1,500
  • Detroit Pistons +6,600
  • Charlotte Hornets +8,000
  • New York Knicks +15,000
  • Atlanta Hawks +30,000
  • Indiana Pacers +20,000
  • Brooklyn Nets +50,000
  • Chicago Bulls +75,000
  • Orlando Magic +75,000

The numbers pretty much speak for themselves I think. I would say the gap is historic but it will almost be identical to the gap between the Golden State Warriors and the rest of the Western Conference.

Eastern Conference Futures – Cleveland Cavaliers

It is hard to bet on any team at -250 to win an entire conference of a major sport but that is the reality here. I think the value is in hammering the Washington Wizards and the Milwaukee Bucks and then looking to bet against them when they come up against Cleveland in the playoffs. It is a counter intuitive approach but one that works well when there is a prohibitive favorite in the mix. For good measure throw in a long shot like the Detroit Pistons and treat it like buying a lottery ticket.
