It hasn’t been hard finding NBA winning bets this year with parity in the league pretty much out the window. The current championship odds reflect this with the Golden State Warriors up 2-0 in the 2017 NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
And so I have done very well picking NBA winning bets this year and the playoffs have been about as straightforward as it gets. It cannot be easy for online sportsbooks right now as they are no doubt getting hammered on basketball favorites.
With GSW essentially blowing out the Cavaliers in the first two games of the NBA Championship one might think that this series is all but over. However, it was only last year that Cleveland came back from a 3-1 series deficit to win out- fueled by LeBron in beast mode. So let’s take a closer look and see what NBA winning bets we can forecast for the rest of the championship.
NBA Winning Bets – Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden State Warriors
There are a couple of key differences between last year’s NBA Championship and the 2017 NBA Finals. First and foremost there is the addition of a player called Kevin Durant to the Golden State Warriors’ roster. No sixth man, Durant is a bonafide superstar in his own right and was a key part of the Oklahoma City Thunder that almost eliminated GSW last year.
Durant had long expressed is admiration for the Warriors and their coach Steve Kerr, and so it surprised no one but perhaps Russell Westbrook when he headed to California. Although they got off to an awkward start, Durant and the other superstar in Steph Curry soon clicked and they cruised through the regular season. The Warriors are currently 14-0 in the playoffs to date which is insane, and a sweep of the Cavaliers is not out of the question.
Best Basketball Picks – Golden State Warrior Lines
It isn’t often that any team with LeBron James on it is outclassed, but that seems to be the case in these NBA Finals. When it comes to NBA winning bets it has really been a case of betting on the Warriors and simply picking whether you like the point spread or the moneyline. Golden State are -3.5 pointspread favorites heading into tomorrow night’s game in Cleveland– which is definitely tempting as they won Games 1 and 2 by 19 points or better.
However, the Cleveland Cavaliers have also had a stellar playoff run and were 12-1 heading into the championship series. They cruised through the playoffs and didn’t look seriously worried by any of the three teams they faced. They are at home in Cleveland for Games 3 and 4, and with a huge effort from LeBron could be heading into Game 5 all tied up. The Cavs are +135 on the moneyline and the Over Under is 235.5 which might be low.
This might be a good time to bet on the Cavaliers at +1400 to win the series as that price will drop if they take Game 3 on Wednesday. They have the tools and the talent to make this series competitive and have last year’s blueprint on how to do it.
2017 NBA Finals Picks – Golden State Warriors
I think Cleveland shows up and wins one game at home but ultimately fall to the Warriors in five or six games. LeBron James still has a chance to be the NBA Finals MVP but will have to overcome a seriously motivated Kevin Durant to do so. Either way, I think there is a lot of fireworks left in this one yet.
