NFC North Preview at RealBet.euI was putting together my NFC North Preview for the 2016/17 NFL season and thought I would share some of my thoughts with my loyal readers. Across this great nation of ours NFL training camps kicked off yesterday, and optimism is high for all 32 teams and their fans. Each week we’ll break down a different NFL Division and let you know where you should be placing your money, or just as importantly, not placing your money.

NFC North Odds and Lines – Football Betting

Let’s take a look at what the RealBet handicappers are saying about the NFC North and we can then do our own analysis. So the odds to win the NFC North are currently:

  • Green Bay Packers -145
  • Minnesota Vikings +175
  • Chicago Bears +850
  • Detroit Lions +1000

It’s interesting to note that it’s the Green Bay Packers, and not the defending NFC North champion Minnesota Vikings, that are the betting favorites to win the division. Last year the Vikings won the NFC North on the last week of the season by beating the Packers in Green Bay.

The Packers, who had what many consider a down year, appear to be healthier heading into this season with Pro Bowl WR Jordy Nelson expected to be ready for the start of camp.

NFC North Preview – NFL Futures

The Chicago Bears and the Detroit Lions are both distant favorites to win the division, and both aren’t anticipated to make the playoffs either. The Lions lost their all pro WR Calvin Johnson to retirement, and come into camp with more questions than answers on the offensive side of the ball

Key Game: Week 16 Vikings at Packers – Where Should Your Money Go?

With all due respect to the Bears and Lions, this is a two horse race. The Vikings have one of the best running games (Adrian Peterson) and defenses in football, but questions about their QB curb complete optimism. On the flip side, the Packers are rolling with arguably the game’s most complete QB in Aaron Rogers– who despite a down year still placed among the leaders in QB rating, passing yards, and TD passes.

The Packers only have to play 4 probable playoff teams this season – the Seattle Seahawks, the Washington Redskins, the Houston Texans, and Minnesota – and have one of the easiest schedules in the league. This may come down to the aforementioned Week 16 clash in Green Bay, where the NFC North title may well decided.
