College football betting is perhaps more challenging to win at than professional football wagering. There are a lot more unknowns but I must admit I sometimes love the wild and slightly volatile nature of college football betting. I am already excited about the start of the 2017 NFL season and of course the NCAA football season is just the icing on an already tasty cake.
The 2017 NCAA college football schedule promises some monster match ups that will be worth marking on your calendar. It is about this time of the year I begin handicapping football futures and so thought I would take a moment to do a bit of a preview of 2017-18 college football.
College Football Betting – 2017/18 Preview
The 2016 season was a fantastic year for college football with some decent upsets and deep runs by middle ranked teams. It was capped off by an outstanding rematch between the Clemson Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide, with the Tigers taking home the hardware this time. I didn’t think anyone could beat the Tide last year, but the Tigers helmed by standout QB DeShaun Watson pulled it off.
NCAA Odds – College Football Schedule
The 2017 NCAA College Football season kicks off on August 24th and gets into full beast mode by Saturday, September 2nd. A couple of notable early clashes on the 2nd with Florida State Seminoles taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide, and the University Michigan Wolverines taking on the University of Florida Gators.
Online NCAA Football Odds – Tips and Picks
On a first preview of 2017 NCAA future bets you will see a lot of the usual suspects sitting as favorites to win their conferences. The Crimson Tide are -150 to win the SEC which seems like long odds as I think they are a bigger favorite than that. The USC Trojans are +105 to win the PAC 12 which seems about right. Ohio State is -110 to prevail in the Big 10 – so no surprises there.
2017 NCAA College Football Championship – Future Bet Odds
The College Football Championship odds line up pretty well as you would expect. Without DeShaun Watson the Clemson Tigers have fallen to +2400 to take it all. Perennial powerhouse Alabama remain the big faves at +350 with the ever ready Ohio State just behind at +450. Florida State has a heck of a team this year by all accounts and have the talent at +750 to make a national run. A lot can happen over the course of a year and the Tide at +350 feels a bit lean- not because they won’t go deep but just because there isn’t a lot of give in that number. Ohio State looked pretty bad getting clobbered 31-0 by Clemson in the semis last year so I am suspicious about them. If you bet Alabama I don’t think you will go to far wrong.
In addition to NCAA Future bets there are a number of NCAA prop bets for the 2017 football season. I will take a look at these in a little more detail in the coming days as there is always some opportunity in those kinds of wagers to find weak lines. It is looking to be a season with a bit more parity I suspect- so it should be interesting!
