I rarely give football betting tips to my friends and family as none of them are serious bettors and as such only remember the losses and never the wins. That’s what separates those that bet with the head and not the heart. You know that on some days the best team loses, that your skillful pointspread wager gets smashed in the dying minutes by a flukey pick six, or that some days you just plain get it wrong.
Luckily the 2016 NFL season has started off in a winning fashion, so I am just reminding myself, and you, that serious online football bettors always need to take the long view when it comes to wins and losses. Ok with that out of the way, let’s get back to winning football betting tips!
Football Betting Tips – Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Arizona Cardinals
What to do, what to do. I like the Arizona Cardinals. I like Arizona a lot. Their NFL Week 1 loss was a choke with the blown field goal attempt. I think we were all a bit surprised at how good the New England Patriots were, and in particularly Jimmy Garoppolo. Regardless of Sith Lord Belichick’s use of the Dark Side, Arizona should have won that game particularly at home.
The Cards GM went on a justifiable rant and called the loss “unacceptable”, which means that there will be some added incentive to win for an already good team. As -7 favorites, Arizona has all the skill and motivation to pull off an against the spread win this weekend.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the other hand had a convincing win in a shootout last week against the Atlanta Falcons. Although both teams could have done a bit better on the D, the O was in fine form. In particular Jameis Winston was at times superb, and at other times looked like the rookie he essentially is. So the question is, do the Bucs show up enough against a much better team on the road to win or lose by less than 7? I don’t think so. The Cards are in a whole different class than the Falcons and are hungry and motivated. I think you can take Arizona on the point spread here.
Football Betting Tips – Seattle Seahawks vs. Los Angeles Rams
Ok if the extremely mediocre San Francisco 49ers can blow out the Los Angeles Rams at home 28-0, then surely the Seattle Seahawks can pull off a win here. I have no doubt in my mind that the Seahawks will win on Sunday, but how much they will make me sweat is the question. The Hawks looked awful last weekend against the Miami Dolphins, and barely won 12-10 on a last minute play. Brutal.
So with that in mind how do I feel about the Seattle Seahawks being -7 favorites on the point spread? Not great to be honest with you. If any team can make you sweat the point spread it is Seattle. You and I both know that they should win this game by 10- but will they is the question?
I hate to do it, but sometimes you have to take the overpriced moneyline on the team you know is going to win as you don’t trust their ability to cover the spread. This game could very easily be 10-6 or 17-14- so hammering Seattle on the moneyline at -260 is the safest way to go. It makes me squirm a bit for sure but I don’t see a way to bet Seattle at -7 without having a nervous breakdown. The Over Under at -37.5 is tempting because I think the Total will go under, but it is pretty lean value. Might be worth a small bet though if you are feeling like you really want agonize over something on Sunday other than not being at church.
