My free NFL betting picks over the last few days have generated a lot of mail from my loyal readers. With my newly inflated ego in hand, I thought I would parse out a couple of more games this weekend. Free NFL betting picks of course might be too strong of a description as I never charge for them to begin with. And as with all things free, make sure to factor in your own online football betting research before making any rent-sized decisions!
Free NFL Betting Picks – Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Which Atlanta Falcons team will show up this year? The team that started the season 5-0 last year, or the team that finished the same season 8-8. The bones of the team are still there and Matt Ryan and Julio Jones are the real deal- question is can the rest of the team catch up? The Hawks are +3000 to win the AFC Championship which gives you a little idea of where the bookmakers think they are.
The Tampa Bay Buccanneers are supposed to be vastly improved this year- compared to what though? Jameis Winston is the real deal and his second year could be the breakout opportunity for the young QB.
My call here is that this will be a competitive game and an entertaining one at that. Are the Falcons on the decline? Are the Bucs on the rise? This game is essentially a pick’em with the Hawks -2.5 faves at home in their brand new shiny stadium. I think you could probably profitably bet the Over at 48 as this will be a shootout, but my free NFL betting picks here is give the game a miss and make some popcorn instead.
NFL Betting Picks – Minnesota Vikings vs. Tennessee Titans
Another close one with the Vikings -2.5 faves in Tennessee. The Vikings are the favorites for good reason given how abysmal Tennessee has been of late, but Minnesota has just suffered the last minute injury to franchise QB of the future Teddy Bridgewater.
However the Vikings made a big trade for elite level QB Sam Bradford which you have to give them prime time credit for. Add to that a team with arguably the best running back in football in the form of Adrian Peterson and perhaps Minnesota will have a banner year.
It will be very interesting to see how fast that all gels on the field come Sunday, but there are enough ingredients there for a pretty good football team. Tenessee to their credit should put up a good fight with star starters such as…umm…what’s that guys name…you know played for whatchmacallit. You get the idea. The Titans are +5000 to win the AFC Championship and the Vikings are +650 to win the NFC Championship which pretty much sums it all up.
Not crazy about the spread or the moneyline here as there is still a lot of uncertainty about how the Vikings will pull it off Sunday. At 40.5 the Under Over bet is really impossible to handicap. I think this is a good opportunity to look at a Prop bet on the game and in particular “What Will Happen First (TD vs. FG)”. I think with a weak Tennessee Titans team and a hesitant Minnesota Vikings we could very well see a field goal before a touchdown- so +115 on the Field Goal prop might be a sneaky bet here.
