I am handicapping NCAA football betting lines for Saturday’s games and there are some monster matchups. In fact, there are two fairly seismic games going off that should prove absolutely exhilarating to watch and bet on.
As discussed in previous columns, NCAA football betting lines can be pretty fickle creatures. The good news is that by Week 4 we are starting to lock in on what squads are performing above or below expectations- which in turn make betting on college football a little easier. In addition, injuries are starting to define teams and we can begin to factor that into our odds making.
NCCA Football Betting Lines – TCU vs. Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State has been a revelation this year and the Cowboys are ranked #6 in the nation. Their stellar year is in no small part due to QB Mason Rudolph’s outstanding performance. The no doubt Heisman candidate is putting up record numbers and blowing the opposition out of the water. The Cowboys are -13 points spread favorites at home.
The TCU Horned Frogs on the other hand excel at defense and are ranked #16 in the nation. Helmed by the talented Kenny Hill, the Frogs are a legit team and are ready to fight Oklahoma for Big 12 Conference bragging rights.
College Football Smart Picks – Oklahoma Cowboys
Whatever the result this should be a heck of a game. Both teams are 3-0 in the Big 12 which makes this a significant contest. Don’t rule out TCU, but on the road against a steamroller Cowboys offense this is going to be tough. I think the Cowboys win but can they cover the 13 point spread? Ultimately I think they can given home field advantage. Over/Under is a shootout at 71.5 of which I would take the Over.
NCAA College Football Odds – Mississippi State Bulldogs vs. Georgia State Bulldogs
The Mississippi State Bulldogs travel to take on historic rivals as they match up against the Georgia State Bulldogs this Saturday. Dog fetishes aside, this should be one heck of a game for SEC bragging rights in what is probably one of the toughest conferences in the country. Surprise QB Nick Fitzgerald is turning Mississippi State into real contenders this year. The #17 Bulldogs looked outstanding last week, and as +4.5 point spread dogs (no pun intended) on the road this game is basically a pick’em.
#11 Georgia State is also looking in excellent form and facing, err the Bulldogs, will be an great test to see if they can make a run at the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide. Running back Nick Chubb is posting historic numbers and Georgia Sate is at home. The Bulldogs are -195 on the moneyline.
So who is going to win this one? The bookies really have this one as a bit of a pick’em and but that extra point and a half could come in really handy for Mississippi. Both of these teams are 3-0 and are looking to go 4-0 so expect a battle. I think I like Mississippi on the pointspread here- not sure why but a gut feeling. The O/U is 48.5 and I think you can also take the Over here as well. Don’t forget to check out the the 1st Half and 2nd Half Prop bets as well which should have some interesting NCAA football betting lines.
