NFL Week 11 Betting Roundup – Point Spreads/Totals

Carolina PanthersAfter a crushing Week 10, gamblers were back at it in NFL Week 11 betting. Week 11 represents the final week where bye weeks occur; meaning from here on out it’s a sprint to the finish. Let’s take a look at the three Primetime games from Week 11 and see how the general public fared.

NFL Thursday Night Football – Jacksonville Jaguars (-3) Beat Tennessee Titans 19-13

If you didn’t watch, bet, or care about this game we don’t blame you. Even the most degenerate gamblers on the planet considered passing on this game. The only reason these two teams ended up on Primetime is because every team is required to play at least one Thursday night game. That being said, at least this game had a tight finish that directly impacted the spread.

The Jaguars, who played from behind for nearly most of the game, came alive in the 4th quarter to not only win, but seal the coveted backdoor cover with a 6 point win. The O/U was set at 41.5 and never had any hope, but that was expected as the majority of the betting public took the Under.

With the win the Jaguars completed their first two game winning streak in what seems like 40 years- and are now surprisingly in the hunt for the AFC South title.

NFL Sunday Night Football – Arizona Cardinals (-4) Beat Cincinnati Bengals 34-31

This game ended in controversy but that didn’t end up impacting the spread. The difference between a 3 and 4 point spread can be enormous, and that was proved once again on Sunday night. 4 point spreads often have you hoping for a late touchdown or score to cover, but a late field goal still dooms you. That was the exact case here, as the Cardinals marched down the field on the final possession of the game needing only a field goal to win the game. The Cardinals got themselves into field goal range and comfortably ran out the clock. They then kicked the winning points as time expired to seal a frustrating 3 point non cover win.

For bettors who took the O/U, you were in luck. Set at 48, the game ended up clearing 60 points- which marks the second time in as many weeks that the Cardinals lit up and essentially covered the Over themselves on Sunday night. The Cardinals look like the real deal as their offense now resides in the top three in the NFL.

NFL Monday Night Football – New England Patriots (-7) Beat Buffalo Bills 20-13

Depending on your perspective, nothing is either better or worse than a tie/push. A push can still save your parlay but you don’t make any money off it. This Monday night saw the Pats go in undefeated, at home, on Primetime. You add all that up and general public money flooded in on New England. However, things didn’t go quite as planned as the NFL’s top ranked offense struggled all game. However, the Bills offense didn’t fare much better as the game ended up 20-13 in a grossly underwhelming game. The O/U finished a full 14 points lower than the 47, and nobody won any money off the spread regardless of which way you bet. In other words, you were best off not betting Monday night and/or forgetting it ever happened.

NFL Week 12 Quick Look – Key Football Matchups

Looking ahead to NFL Week 12 betting there are some key matchups as we get closer to the playoffs. Thanksgiving day always has classic games, some of which will have an impact on the playoffs. The New York Giants and Washington Redskins game will go a long way to defining the murky and dismal NFC East. The AFC South doesn’t appear any more awe inspiring, but look for the Indianapolis Colts and the Houston Texans to try and separate from the pack. It will be interesting to see the Denver Broncos host the unbeaten New England Patriots at home without Peyton Manning– can home field advantage and a rock solid defense pull off the upset? Two outlier games worth keeping an eye on below:

  • Biggest Spread: Arizona Cardinals (-10) at San Francisco 49ers
  • Biggest O/U: New Orleans Saints at Houston Texans (47.5)
