NFL Week 14 Arizona Cardinals vs Minnesota VikingsWelcome to our NFL Week 14 Betting Preview where we handicap football teams and upcoming games for sports betting. We’re right in the midst of the December stretch run and teams are finding themselves in “must win” situations in order to keep their playoff hopes alive (hello Buffalo!). Let’s take a look at the two most intriguing games for NFL Week 14 below. Make sure to add this info to your own handicapping analysis.

The Atlanta Falcons (+7.5) at Carolina Panthers – Carolina Still Undefeated

The league’s only undefeated team resides in Carolina and they’re four wins away from becoming only the third team in NFL history to run the table and go 16-0. Standing in their way this week is a divisional opponent that’s not only out of a playoff spot, but is seeing their season sink faster than the Titanic.

Falcons QB Matt Ryan Struggling – Panthers Defensive Stats Excellent

Atlanta rolls into Carolina having lost five in a row after starting the season 6-1. Franchise QB Matt Ryan has struggled mightily over the past 2 months, even with franchise WR Julio Jones having a record setting year. Ryan’s numbers are down across the board, and now he goes into Carolina where the Panthers have one of the league’s most formidable defenses.

On the other side of the ball, Panther’s franchise QB Cam Newton has thrust himself right into the MVP discussion and may very well be the front runner for the award. Don’t look now but he’s got this Panther’s offense sitting second in the league with 31.1 points per game- and they’re doing it with the run as they sit third in the league with 141.9 rush yards per game.

A 7.5 point spread means the Panthers have to win by more than a touchdown, which they’ve been able to do in three of their last four home games. On the flip side, Atlanta needs this win to save their season. To their advantage a blueprint for how to beat Carolina may have been laid out by the New Orleans Saints last week in a very close game.

Either way, this is a feature game for NFL Week 14 and should be a fascinating one for bettors.

The Minnesota Vikings (+7.5) at the Arizona Cardinals – NFL Week 14 Betting

Another touchdown plus spread in Week 14’s first game which takes place on Thursday night. The Cardinals are at home on Primetime and look to feast on the wounded animal that is the Minnesota Vikings. Arizona is flying with a 10-2 record and is backed by the league’s number one offense (31.8 points per game). The Cardinals are more than just a one tricky pony, as they also feature a top five defense. This combined with their balanced offensive attack, which has them in the top ten in both passing and rushing yards, means that they are very tough team to beat.

The Vikings on the other hand are limping in off a brutal showing last week where they got throttled by Russel Wilson and the Seahawks. They have to rebound quickly, but it will be tough to do so as they’re suffering serious injuries through the heart of their defense. LB Anthony Barr and FS Harrison Smith both may not play, which creates two massive holes on one of the league’s most underrated defenses.

However, all this can be covered up by one of the league’s best rushing attacks led by former MVP Adrian Peterson. Peterson is critical to the Vikings’ success as he can chew up the clock and keep Carson Palmer and the Cardinals offense on the sideline. It’s a quick turnaround for both teams and should provide a fun Thursday nighter for everyone to enjoy. Look to get your bets down just before kickoff as there might be a few last minute line adjustments.
