It is hard to believe that I am handicapping NFL Week 6 betting lines, as it seems the season started just last week. It has been a bit of a strange season with some epic upsets and some great games. I suspect NFL Week 6 is going to live up to the previous five weeks and that should make online football betting this weekend interesting.
Let’s take a look at a couple of games that should prove worthwhile to our bottom lines. For today’s article on NFL Week 6 betting we will preview the Miami Dolphins as they travel to Georgia to take on the Atlanta Falcons.
NFL Week 6 – Miami Dolphins vs. Atlanta Falcons
Two teams couldn’t be farther apart than the Miami Dolphins and the Atlanta Falcons. The AFC East Dolphins boast a 2-2 hurricane shortened record, while NFC South Falcons are tops in their division with a 3-1 record. The Dolphins are struggling to find their identity with QB import Jake Plummer, while the Falcons are essentially the same team that went to the Super Bowl last year.
NFL Wagering Picks – Miami Dolphins
The ghost of Dan Marino hangs heavy over the Hard Rock stadium in Miami as the Dolphs struggle to find their groove. Although they went to the playoffs last year, and had an early exit, they were helmed by Ryan Tannehill. With Tannehills’ season ending injury however, Miami is not the same team.
Not surprisingly the Dolphins are +12.5 pointspread dogs. Now as I have mentioned in other articles, I often like to automatically bet against big NFL spreads. The reason is that any NFL team is a good team comparatively speaking, and big spreads are tough to rationalize. However, the Dolphins may be my exception. Although they managed to beat the Tennessee Titans last week, Miami still has trouble scoring runs which makes me leery of 12.5 points.
NFL Week 6 Odds – Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons on the other hand are coming off a stellar 2016 season and seem to be in the same form heading into NFL Week 6. QB Matt Ryan is an elite level player and now has a few year of real success under his belt. Even without an injured Julio Jones the Falcons still have the 3rd best offense in the league and don’t show any signs of slowing down.
At the moment the Falcons are -12.5 favorites with no moneyline in sight. Whenever it does go up though be prepared for it to be steep. I don’t see how the Falcons lose this game and I think it is more than likely that they cover the point spread as the Dolphins just aren’t that good. The Over Under for the game is 45.5 which seems about right with Miami’s defense ranked #8 and the Falcons ranked #10. In fact you may want to think about the Under bet here. Also make sure to check out the Dolphins vs. Falcons prop bets for some potential profit making lines.
