As I sit here pondering my NFL Week 7 preview article, I am reminded of the what the great Doyle Brunson once said about winning at poker. Brunson famously said, “It is a hard way of making easy money”. And that is true of all ventures of risk whether poker, the stock market, or the NFL Week 7 preview.
When you get it right it is the sweetest feeling in the world, like connecting perfectly on a golf tee shot. The mind goes blank, there is that perfect “whack” sound of club striking ball, and of course the supreme satisfaction of seeing your ball 250 yards away sitting like a pearl in the middle of the emerald green fairway. What the heck does any of this pseudo philosophical rambling have to do with my NFL Week 7 Preview tips and picks you ask? Let’s take a look at some football betting wisdom.
NFL Week 7 Preview – Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals
If a tree falls in a forest, and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? That’s how I feel about the Arizona Cardinals‘ season. Although they beat the imploding New York Jets 28-3 on Monday night, which I called, I cannot bet them with any confidence. I would love to bet them against the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday, as I think the Seahawks are definitely fragile and this is a key divisional match up which Arizona needs to win.
The spread on the game is -1.5 for the Cardinals at home and that figure definitely would have been different at the start of the season. I still think the Cardinals win this as I suspect they are just getting their roll on, but treat this one as speculative. I am planning a small bet on the point spread for Arizona and I think this should be a compelling game to watch. I would call it season defining for both teams.
NFL Week 7 Preview – New England Patriots vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
What is the sound one hand clapping? The man-pretty perfection that is Tom Brady sweeps into Steeltown under the aegis of the Dark Sith Lord Belichick. Has Robert Kraft sold his soul to the Dark Side? Most likely, but you sure can’t argue with the results and the New England Patriots are definitely in my NFL Week 7 preview.
Prior to Ben Rothelisburger’s injury this was of course going to be a much tighter game then the current line of -7.5 indicates. Assuming that this wasn’t the result of some sort of hex put on the Steelers by necromancer Belichick, then you can say they definitely got a lucky bounce here. Don’t get me wrong, Pittsburgh still has a ton of talent with the likes of Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell, but it is all built around the corn fed Big Ben.
Week 7 Moneyline Pick – New England Patriots
I think the point spread is pretty bang on so not sure if there is a ton of value there- so I will most likely hammer the moneyline at -330. I don’t think the Pats lose this game, but it could be a bit ground and pound so the spread might be tricky. Like my Jets Cardinals moneyline bet from last week I am probably being over cautious and paying retail, but I still banked a nice profit nonetheless. I think the Under 47 is also a strong possibility here.
