Super Bowl 51 picks are currently hot commodities and I am always more than happy to share mine with my loyal readers. I have already broken down my thought process on the moneyline, pointspread, and over under bets, so let’s dive into the proposition bets. Quick note- the Atlanta Falcons are now +135 on the Moneyline and the Over Under is now at 59 points even since my last post.
Just to make sure we are all on the same page- proposition bets are wagers which are based on specific player performances or aspects of the game. Examples would be a line on how many yards a particular running back might rush for in a game, or how many touchdowns a quarterback may throw for. Really, you can make a proposition line on any aspect of a game, including how long it takes to sing the national anthem.
Super Bowl 51 Picks – Game Props
There are a total of 63 Game Props for Super Bowl 51 picks. The first one I like is “1st Official Play From Line of Scrimmage- Pass Play or Sack (+110)”. I didn’t take the Run Play bet given how much these two teams pass the ball. They will try and establish tempo and attack early so you can count on a pass as the first play. Note that this wager applies to whichever team first has possession after the coin toss.
Super Bowl 51 Picks – New England Patriots Atlanta Falcons Team Props
When you are talking about the Patriots you are talking about Tom Brady. Given Brady’s playing style of late, I like taking the Under on the Patriots prop bet “Tom Brady Longest Completion 40.5”. As Brady has aged he is throwing a lot shorter, and so New England then throws under coverage a lot.
Conversely, I like the Over for the same bet for Matt Ryan and the Falcons. The line is 43.5 on “Matt Ryan Longest Completion” and Ryan can flat out throw the ball. Combine this with the fact that he gets to throw to one of the most dynamic receivers in the NFL in the form of Julio Jones, then you can count that the Falcons are going to go long on the Patriots.
NFL Betting – Super Bowl LI MVP
And lastly, one of my favorite bets is on who will be the Super Bowl MVP. Not only does this wager have a certain dramatic quality, but it also can be a smart football bet. For Super Bowl 51 picks we have some likely candidates. Tom Brady, who has won Super Bowl MVP three times, is the obvious favorite at -115. As usual QBs lead the way and Matt Ryan is the next in line at +180. Julio Jones follows at +925, and Pats receiver Julian Edelman is at +1400.
Each of these four players has a legit chance to be Super Bowl MVP, but in the absence of a star running back, I say you always take the QB. Given that I think Brady and Co. will win on Sunday, I take Giselle’s husband on this one. Good luck with all of your SB bets!
