Hockey betting odds on the 2017 Stanley Cup have taken a dramatic turn with the Nashville Predators‘ recent wins. As the Stanley Cup series is now tied at 2-2, the Pittsburgh Penguins‘ hockey betting odds are once again longer to win the Cup.
It has been a fantastic season of hockey, and in my mind it has been the best entertainment value in all of the professional leagues. The 2017 Stanley Cup Finals have been nothing short of cliffhangers with both teams having dominating games. It is like a new three game series now, and the hockey betting odds are reflecting that.
Hockey Betting Odds – 2017 Stanley Cup Series Price
This line has bounced around more than a dimestore superball over the last week and a half. When the Pens were up 2-0 you couldn’t get them for less than -600 to win the series. Now that the Preds have evened things up, the Pens are only -140 favorites to win the series and the Cup. Nashville is sitting at +110 and primarily because the next two games are back in Pittsburgh- otherwise this series would be looking more and more like a pick’em. Game 5 is huge for both teams, but unless Sidney Crosby starts scoring the Pens could be in real trouble.
Stanley Cup Winning Bets – Hockey Lines
The lines for tomorrow night’s game of course reflect that Game 5 is being played in Pennsylvania. Currently, the Pens are -155 favorites on the money line while the Preds sit at +135. The Over Under is set at 5.5 goals which might be high for what I think will be a more cautious, defensive game.
If you prefer the puckline or pointspread, which I must admit I never do in hockey, then you may want to think about taking the Nashville Predators at +1.5 -240. There is a lot of wiggle room in that bet as you can be sure that the Penguins will show up big tomorrow night.
Online Hockey Betting – Stanley Cup Picks
I am a lot less certain of a Pens series win than I was three games ago. I knew Nashville was the real deal, but thought the combination of Phil Kessel, Evegni Malkin, and Sydney Crosby might be too much to handle. However, P.K. Subban and co. have done just fine with Pittsburgh’s top talent and have shut down Crosby and Malkin. If Pekka Rinne had been in form for Game 1 and Game 2, then we might already be talking about how surprising it was that Pittsburgh got swept.
Well, it certainly seems like Rinne is in top form once again and he stopped 50 of 52 shots in Games 3 and 4. If the enigmatic Finn continues to excel, and the Preds keep outshooting the Pens, then the defending Stanley Cup Champions could be in real trouble. Game 5 will make or break this series for both teams.
