NHL Playoff betting is in high gear at RealBet as we seek the best value picks on ice. Overtimes, high scoring, and great individual performances have highlighted the NHL’s second round of the playoffs so far and the best is yet to come. Three of the four series were tied up at one game a piece after two, and every game this round has been tightly contested. Let’s take a look at each series and see where we’re at in terms of NHL playoff betting.
NHL Playoff Betting – Washington Capitals (1) vs. Pittsburgh Penguins (2)
Current Situation: The Pens took a 2-1 series lead last night, despite getting outshot heavily and outplayed for most of the game.
Washington’s Form: The Caps have been good in the series and could have used a bit more puck luck last night. They’ll need to win a game in Pittsburgh to regain control of this series. Alex Ovechkin and T.J. Oshie have combined for 6 points in the series.
Pittsburgh’s Form: The Pens are right where they want to be, with a 2-1 series lead and Sidney Crosby a non factor to this point. Star defenseman Kris Letang may miss next game due to suspension, which would weaken an already thin blueline.
What to look for: If Letang misses next game, this could be the break the Caps need to even this series. Both goalies have been in fine form, but not every star player has shown up yet to this hotly contested series. This has been the best series of Round 2 and there’s still plenty of time left in it to make some money with some solid NHL playoff betting.
Betting Hockey Online – Tampa Bay Lightning (1) vs. New York Islanders (1)
Current Situation: Tampa laid an egg in Game 1 and the Isles capitalized. With the series now tied and heading back to Brooklyn, Game 3 becomes a pivotal contest for both teams.
Tampa’s Form: The Lightning looked much better in Game 2, led by their goaltender Ben Bishop. There are rumors that Steven Stamkos may return later in this series, which would provide much need depth for a Lightning team in need of balanced scoring.
NY Form: The Isles are where they need to be in this series as they’ve seized home ice advantage. Being able to get Jonathan Tavares away from Victor Hedman will be much easier on home ice with the last change.
What to look for: Can Isles goalie Thomas Greiss continue his stellar form? Will Stamkos make his debut in this series? As Ben Bishop gets more comfortable in this series, does NY have what enough offense to win this series?
NHL Playoff Odds – Dallas Stars (1) vs. St. Louis Blues (1)
Current Situation: The Blues blew a 3rd period lead but won in OT in Game 2 to tie up the series. Series now shifts back to St. Louis for Games 3 and 4.
Dallas’ Form: The Stars have played well in this series, and despite having the better record and home ice advantage were seen as underdogs in the series. Jamie Benn is the best player in the series.
St. Louis’ Form: The Blues escaped with a split in Dallas but they can’t be overly happy with how they’re playing. Defenseman Alex Pietrangelo is playing his best hockey of the season. Vlad Tarasenko has yet to make his mark in this series.
What to look for: With the Blues taking control of the series with the Game 2 win, they have a chance to go for the jugular here in Games 3 and 4. For Dallas, there are rumors that Tyler Seguin could join the team in this series reuniting the top scoring duo in the NHL.
NHL Playoff Betting – San Jose Sharks (2) vs. Nashville Predators (0)
Current Situation: The Sharks took care of business at home and lead the series 2-0. Nashville heads home to try and claw their way back into the series.
San Jose’s Form: The Sharks were slow out of the gate during Game 2, but like always they were led by the 1-2 punch of Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton and dominated the 3rd period to take a 2-0 series lead.
Nashville’s Form: Nashville has lost 5 of their last 7 playoff games, but still remain in decent position if they can take care of business at home. Pekka Rinne needs to be a mountain in goal for the Preds.
What to look for: The only series that is 2-0, this one has potential to be over quickly if the Preds don’t win Game 3. Nashville has lost two home games already and the Sharks might be the West’s best team.
