Auto racing odds are not really my area of expertise but I have had some success with NASCAR betting. To say that all auto racing odds are handicapped the same would be a critical mistake. The differences between NASCAR, F1, and Indy Cart etc. are pronounced.
For the purposes of this article we will focus on NASCAR auto racing odds and how best to determine winning bets. NASCAR is by far the number one auto sport in the U.S. and has a historic place in Americana. Although at times is can just seem like it is about driving really fast in a circle, or oval, NASCAR comes with a surprising amount of complexity. Let’s take a look at some of the top drivers this year.
Auto Racing Odds – Jimmy Johnson
The 2017 NASCAR season is almost to the halfway mark and a lot of rubber has hit the road. Currently long time good ol’ boy Jimmy Johnson sits atop the NASCAR rankings with 3 wins and 3 additional top ten finishes.
Johnson is no stranger to the podium and has won an incredible seven NASCAR Monster Energy Cup titles. He has been a little cool in the last couple of years and so it is nice to see him and the Hendricks Motorsports teams back in the game. When it comes to auto racing odds, you won’t go wrong with betting on Jimmy Johnson in a car that is running good.
Brad Keselowski – 2017 NASCAR Auto Racing Odds
Brad Keselowski will not win any prizes for likability. He is an agitator and well known for crashing his competitors with the old school “bump and run” technique that spins them out. He has been involved in more than one post race scrap with fellow drivers and has been sanctioned numerous times by NASCAR.
However, he is also a excellent driver and currently sits in third place in the 2017 NASCAR rankings with two wins and 10 top ten finishes. I think odds on him winning the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup are a little lean but as always do your own handicapping.
NASCAR Betting Lines – Martin Truex Jr.
I had thought to take a look at the Busch brothers, Kyle and Kurt, but they are pretty well known and I have written about them before. Sitting in second place overall is Martin Truex Jr. Although still looking for his big breakthrough in NASCAR, Truex Jr. was the 2005 and 2005 Xfinity champion driver. It was this success in NASCAR’s “junior league” that led to his present ride in the big show.
I think Truex Jr. is ready for a breakout season and why not 2017? In terms of auto racing odds, Truex Jr. is always tons of value and his Toyota team have the cars to win races. Look for him and Jimmie Johnson to be ramped up for this weekend’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at the Michigan International Speedway.
