NFL Week 17 betting predictions have been distilled by the RealBet braintrust and it looks to be a frantic finish to the regular season. NFL Week 16 did not go as expected for many teams. The Pittsburgh Steelers’ high powered offense sputtered all day in Baltimore, the Seattle Seahawks played from behind all game and eventually lost to a mediocre St. Louis Rams team, and the New York Giants got embarrassed on national television by the suddenly surging Minnesota Vikings.
All of this ultimately means that we have several playoff implication games as we roll into the last week of the season. Let’s take a look at the best games and break them down.
The Minnesota Vikings (+3) at the Green Bay Packers – NFC North Title Fight
The last Sunday nighter of the season is for the NFC North title. Minnesota brings their red hot offense (87 points in their last 2 games) into Green Bay as they look to secure their first signature win vs. the Packers in the Teddy Bridgewater era. Aaron Rodgers and company haven’t looked like the same old Packers we’ve grown accustomed to seeing, which was evident in last week’s forgettable performance in Arizona.
If the Vikings want to reverse their recent trend of coming up short vs. the Packers they’ll need to lean on the league’s number one rusher- Adrian Peterson. Peterson is a game away from securing another rushing title and leading his team to their first home playoff game since Brett Favre was under center.
NFL Week 17 Betting – Packers Football
The Packers stumble into Week 17 after getting blown out 38-8 at Arizona in Week 16. The Packers’ offense has dropped out of the top ten and hasn’t been in sync since their Thanksgiving night loss to the Chicago Bears. That being said, this is a team that’s dominated the NFC North over the past five years and are one home win away from securing another divisional title and presumably a first round playoff matchup against…the Minnesota Vikings.
Minnesota comes in with a more balanced and deeper team, yet the Packers come in with arguably the game’s best signal caller in Rodgers. Sunday night should be a dandy at Lambeau Field.
The New York Jets (-2.5) at the Buffalo Bills – Rex Ryan Grudge Match
The Bills may have nothing to play for, but Rex Ryan’s current group can do some serious damage to the playoff hopes of Rex Ryan’s former team this Sunday. Here’s the deal- if the Jets win they are in. It’s that simple. If the Jets lose they can also still get in, but would then need the Pittsburgh Steelers to lose to the Cleveland Browns for that to happen.
Let’s start by giving some dap to the J-E-T-S. They come into Week 17 with five straight wins, including a statement win vs. Brady and the New England Patriots last week. Wide receiver Brandon Marshall has 13 touchdowns, 101 receptions, and over 1300 yards on the season. Chris Ivory is poised to eclipse 1,000 yards on the ground and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is 276 yards away from hitting 4,000 passing yards on the season. New York is straight up firing on all cylinders.
The Bills, not so much. They come into Week 17 a game below .500 having lost four of five before beating the Dallas Cowboys in a Week 16 pillow fight. That being said, they come into this game with the league’s best rushing attack (154.6 yards per game) and the motivation of putting Rex Ryan’s old team out of the playoffs. The last time these two teams played, the Bills went into New York and beat the Jets on Thursday Night by five points. The game was forgettable in every sense of the word, but if the Bills pull this one out, the Jets will look at getting swept by their divisional rivals as the main reason they’ll be watching the post season from home.
