My US Open picks have been a little more interesting this year when it comes to tennis betting online. With so many elite level players out due to injury and babies, the 2017 US Open has been a bit of a different animal.
Regardless, it has been a very interesting tournament and there are still some big names left such as Venus Williams and Rafael Nadal– no Roger Federer however. I have had some luck with my US Open picks this year but I must admit that I haven’t done as much betting as usual. The main reason has been a focus on the start of NFL and NCAA football, but also there is a lot more things to handicap when dealing with unknown players.
US Open Picks – Tennis Betting Odds
As we head into the semifinals however, we now have a better idea of form and strength so I think we can make more reliable US Open picks. Let’s start with the Men’s draws.
Firstly, Rafael Nadal looks good and I think with Federer out he is now the man to beat. Nadal has cruised through his matches in the 2017 US Open and in very few sets as a rule. This means that the 31 year old Spaniard will be fresh.
He faces Juan Martin del Potro who is ranked 24th in the world, and who after a long battle finished off Roger Federer last night. So this is someone who could give Nadal a run for his money. However, I think Nadal is just in another zone at the moment and at -280 odds I expect him to win his way to the finals.
On the other side of the semi finals bracket we have some relative unknowns in terms of US Open picks. When it comes to betting tennis online more information is, well, more. Kevin Anderson of South Africa is a long time tennis pro who is experiencing his first Grand Slam semi final. Pablo Carreno of Spain is facing Anderson in his first Grand Slam semi as well and is currently ranked #12 in the world. Not much to say here but I would go with youth in this case. Anderson is 31 (-260) and Carreno (+200) is 26. Clearly the bookmakers don’t agree with me however so trust your own instincts here.
Tennis Betting Online – US Open Women’s Picks
There is still a Williams left in the 2017 US Open and she is pretty darn good too. Venus Williams is still a top 10 player and recently finaled the Australian Open. She is now into the semi finals and will take on fellow American Sloane Stephens. The line for the match has Venus Williams as -165 favorite and Stephens as +135. I think this might be Venus’ time and I like her making it to the finals.
The Women’s semi finals will be an all American affair this year which is pretty awesome particularly given that it is the US Open taking place in New York City. The other US semi final pair is world no. 20 Coco Vandeweghe versus world no. 15 Madison Keys. Both have played well during the course of the tournament and it should be a competitive match.
Currently, Madison Keys is the favorite at -160 and I think based on current form she has a good chance to end up in the finals. The fantastically named Coco Vandeweghe (+130) is no slouch either and could be a viable US Open pick when it comes to betting tennis online. However Keys seems to have the momentum and I love momentum.
